Why mould grows in cars
Mould needs moisture and something to feed on. In a car that usually means humidity, poor ventilation, water that never dries out of hidden spots, or spilled food and drinks that weren't cleaned up. It often starts in the carpet and upholstery and can spread surprisingly fast, especially in a car that's been parked closed up for a few weeks.
Left alone, mould damages surfaces, causes a stubborn musty smell, and can affect your health, leading to respiratory problems and allergies. Kids, older passengers and anyone with asthma feel it most.
Why a normal clean isn't enough
A regular wash or vacuum only cleans the surface. Spores stay in the fabric, foam and vents and the mould comes straight back. Proper mould removal needs the right products and enough time to let them work, without damaging the materials in your car.
Our mould removal process
- Inspection: we check upholstery, carpets, seatbelts and air vents to see how far the mould has spread and where the moisture is coming from.
- Vacuum and air gun: loose spores, dust and dirt are removed so the treatment can penetrate properly.
- Steam or shampoo: high-heat steam kills spores on fabric and mats, and an anti-mould shampoo scrubs out visible growth.
- Anti-mould treatment: an antimicrobial solution is applied to every affected area and left to work for the right amount of time.
- Extraction, drying and deodorising: moisture is pulled out of the fabric, and the cabin is left smelling clean, not perfumed over.
Keeping mould away
Fix any leaks first: blocked sunroof drains, worn door seals and wet floor mats are the usual culprits. Air the car out on dry days, don't leave damp towels or gym gear inside, and clean spills straight away. A regular interior clean every few months makes a big difference.

Common questions
Is car mould dangerous?
It can irritate eyes, skin and airways, especially for kids and people with asthma. It's best removed properly rather than wiped.
Will the smell come back?
Not if the source is removed and the leak is fixed. If the car gets wet again, mould can regrow.
Can every car be saved?
Most can. If foam or carpet underlay is soaked through, parts may need replacing, and we'll tell you before we start.
How long does mould removal take?
Most of a day for a typical car, including drying time. Heavily affected cars can take longer.
How can I pay?
Cash, card (Visa, Mastercard), Apple Pay, Google Pay or Afterpay, paid when the job is done.
